Return.Trip.Effect
2020, 6.5 minutes, pinhole video

Driving around a quiet and unrecognizable New York City, I begin to lose my sense of time, place, and home. The "return trip effect is" the unexplained phenomenon where a trip feels shorter when returning. A perceptual study of elapsed time in relation to (un)familiarity and expectation during a car ride around the COVID-19 epicenter in April of 2020.

The trip there ≠ the trip home
